Well if your learning how to swim. Keep it simple. Don’t make things more difficult than it has to be. Start of in the shallow end. Nobody can become an amazing swimmer instantly. It takes lots of practice to become a good enough swimmer. It just takes time. And you have to get used to being in water. Just spend time in the pool. Get used to having your face underwater where you can’t breathe when you race.

Now if you are new to swimming you will want to practice your breathing. This isn’t the most natural as most people aren’t used to going long lengths of time while holding their breath. It just isn’t natural to not be able to breathe your body will want to breath. So getting used to the breathing motions in water might take a while to get used to. I would recommend practicing on dry land first by just holding your breath.
Now there are just technique thins you will want to fix. Such as keep your hips flat as possible. Don’t let them sink or you will be slowed by drag tremendously. Keep them up towards the surface so your more buoyant. And keep your toes pointed out. They are what will determine your speed and direction. And last but not least. Don’t rely on your upper body. Your lower body is stronger and generates more power.
